Welcome to Blue Ocean Studios
Around the World

Our brunch at Jack's Cafe - it's incredible food!Jaimie woke up with a sinus headache today - so we really took it easy.   Around noon - we headed out for lunch back to Jack's Cafe - one of our 2 favorite restaurants.  If you come to Cusco, you must go to Jack's Cafe - just 2 blocks from Plaza de Armas (the main square).   I had the most delicious french toast ($3) , and jaimie had beans in tortilla wraps ($2.50)- we had 1.50 strawberry juices too!  See pic - the food tastes better then it looks (and it looks pretty darn good!)

Hotel Monasterio - a former 16th Monastery now demanding $400 a night!Other then stocking up on supplies for our Inca Trail, we didn't do much.  We checked out the Hotel Monasterio - a hotel built on a 16th century monastery.  The place was beautiful, but the nightly cost for 2 people standard room is $415 US - not staying here anytime soon :).   We also ran into a cute kitten on the way back - how can you resist photographing them!

Random streets have beautiful Inca walls built into themWe walked around a little - Cusco is a beautiful town - you'll walk along a random street and notice half of the building is built from original Inca walls.   Even the hotel we're staying at, 2 of the bottom rooms have one wall of Inca stones.

Cute kitten in CuscoAt 6:30 pm, we met up with the rest of our Inca trailmates, and had a quick briefing of what to expect for the next 3 days.   It's going to be extremely difficult to get this 43 km hike along 3 passes (one of which at 13,776 ft) in 3 days instead of 4, but we're hoping we're up to the challenge!  Instead of the first 3 days hiking 6 hours, we'll have to do two days of 9 hour hikes.  We're hoping since the day has 12 hours, we'll still have time to enjoy the sites as we arrive.   We'll be out of internet range until we return on Sunday by train from Macchu Picchu (if we make it :)).   Stay tuned for a Monday update!

PS: Thanks everyone for the comments - we really enjoy them - as it's difficult to communicate directly .  It encourages us to write more! :)
